Here are the ANSWERS to some Frequently Asked Questions:
Why are you in business? We are a small operation with only one vessel in our “fleet”, but we take pride in offering an experience that is very different from any other – primarily because of our motivation. We operate the Queen Priscilla because we love being on the Tennessee River and sharing our experiences with guests who enjoy it as much as we do. Our cruises provide recreation, entertainment and relaxation – all at the same time. Our goal is to provide the very best experience we can for every guest on every cruise. We’re not interested in generating as many bookings as we can or making a huge sum of money. It is not even our goal to “break even”. We just want to have fun and share good times on the Tennessee River. We appreciate each of our guests immensely and look forward to each and every cruise with them.
How do I secure a reservation? All reserved cruises (April – November) take place after 5 pm during the week and at almost any time on the weekends. To schedule a cruise, please call 865-312-9000. If you reach our answering machine, please leave a specific message regarding the requested date & time for your cruise and the number of guests in your party. Advance notice of least 2 hours is respectfully requested. If you would like to inquire about a reservation several weeks or months in advance, you may use our Availability Inquiry Form.
How do I pay? Payment may be made using cash, credit card, or PayPal. If a credit card or PayPal is used, 3% must be added to cover the service charge. Gratuities at the conclusion of the cruise are cheerfully accepted.
What is your cancellation policy? Because of the limited number of cruises offered and other scheduling considerations, NO REFUNDS for canceled reservations may be issued. Prepaid boarding passes are however, transferable. If, for any reason the Captain must cancel a cruise due to weather or some other unforeseen circumstances, a FULL REFUND will be provided.
Where do I board the vessel and park my car? Boarding takes place at the huge concrete steps in front of The “Towers” at Volunteer Landing – near Calhoun’s On The River, between the Gay St. Bridge and Henley St. Bridge (pictured below). Volunteer Landing is a beautiful riverfront park that runs parallel with Tennessee River where visitors enjoy fishing, biking, jogging, walking, and relaxing. It is also the place where the armada known as the VOL Navy assembles, creating a sea of orange on UT home football weekends.
Depending on the circumstances of each particular cruise, other boarding site options may be offered. Boarding site options are presented on our map. Where you decide to park depends on where you plan to board the vessel and the availability of parking at that time. Wherever you park, it is easy to walk to our boarding sites.
When do I check in? Passengers should arrive promptly at the boarding location 15 minutes before the planned departure time. Late arrival may cause the cruise to be shorter than planned.
Who are the crew are aboard the vessel? Captain Kevin is a US Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain. He is assisted by Chief Mate Andrew who conducts regular safety briefings and provides any other assistance you may require during the cruise.
What is the maximum number of people I can have in my group? Per U.S. Coast Guard regulations, the maximum number of paid passengers aboard the Queen Priscilla at any time (day or night) is six (6). This rule is strictly enforced.
May I bring my own food and drink? Yes. Our Chief Mate will be happy to serve any food and/or beverage you may wish to bring.
May I take photos? Yes. Take as many photos as you like. In fact, we appreciate receiving copies of your favorite photos to post at our web site. Just send them to firstname.lastname@example.org During your cruise, our Chief Mate will be delighted to capture stunning photographs of you and your guests amidst backdrops featuring Neyland Stadium, the Vol Navy, and our beautiful Knoxville skyline.
What are some other things I can do in the downtown area? One very popular entertainment combination among our passengers features cocktails and a cruise aboard the Queen Priscilla before or after dinner at Calhoun’s On the River or Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Boarding is available at both of these fine establishments. Helpful links to regular Festivals & Events are also provided on the front page of this site.
